The new Bendigo Tennis Association (BTA) Board of Management has undertaken a review of the current fees and membership arrangements in place for BTA competitions and social tennis for the coming year at the Bendigo Tennis Centre, Nolan Street (BTC) and Barnard Street Lawn Centre (BLTC). The Board has also acknowledged and considered the impacts of the current COVID19 pandemic in this review.

The review was undertaken following feedback around the confusion created by previous fee structures, the need to comply with documented competition rules, good governance and a desire to reengage with our district tennis clubs as well as the broader tennis community.

The BTA is an association of local clubs, and as such its strength lies in maintaining strong relationships with affiliated clubs, both existing and new, tennis support agencies and relevant funding bodies including local government.

The review considered a number of regional and metropolitan facilities with varied arrangements, though the Board was aware of the challenges presented post COVID19 and as such have adopted a simplified arrangement to better support both our affiliated clubs and the broader tennis community.

From 1st of October 2020, the start of the 2020/21 membership year, the following will apply:

  • All previous membership arrangements at the BTC and the BLTC will be discontinued;

  • New membership fee structure will be implemented at the BTC (including the BLTC for season 2020/21 only)

    • -  Family - $200 (down from $280)

    • -  Adult - $100 (down from $140)

    • -  Junior (under 15 yrs) – $70 (no change)

    • -  Concession/Student (15-23 yrs) - $80 (no change)

    • -  Veteran (over 70 yrs) - $70 (no change)

  • The new BTC and BLTC membership will provide members:

    • Complementary daytime court hire at the BTC (subject to availability)

    • Complementary daytime court hire at the BLTC (subject to availability)

    • 25% discount off BTC function room facilities

Note: A BTC/BLTC member may play with a non-member guest for a scheduled guest fee of $5 per guest per hour

  • Court hire fees for BTC and BLTC non-members will be as follows:

    • Court hire (1 hour) - $20

    • Lights (1 hour) - $10 uplift ($30 per hour total)

Note: Court access at night requiring the use of lights will attract a fee of $10 per hour for all users (members and non-members)

  • All fees including membership, competition, social play and court hire fees will be displayed within the BTC facility and on the BTA website;

  • Complementary court hire at the BTC will be exclusively for BTC members – there is no free tennis.

    • All court hire bookings will be administered through the online ‘Book a Court’ system accessible from the BTA website;

  • Where a person is a current financial member of a BTA affiliated club (proof required) and also wishes to be a member of the BTC/BLTC, they will receive a 50% reduction of the scheduled fee on the equivalent category of membership (e.g. a family membership with an affiliated club will allow a BTC/BLTC family membership to be purchased for $100);

  • BTC/BLTC membership in isolation does not permit a member to play in a BTA club pennant competitions.

  • a. It is a requirement of these competitions that players are a member of a club affiliated with the BTA;

  • BTC/BLTC membership does permit a member to play in BTA social competitions (Mid-week Ladies, Mid-week night and Veterans Competitions)

  • BTA affiliated club members are also permitted to play in BTA social competitions.

The BTA hopes these changes provide all members, players and the broader tennis community clarity and understanding moving into the upcoming 2020/21 membership year.
